4-17-11 Blue and Gold by K.J. Parker - Fiction

4 - This is a strange little novella that is narrated by the greatest alchemist alive, Solonius. He's conceited, clever, conniving, and funny in turns and starts the story by telling a bartender that he figured out how to turn base metal into gold and killed his wife, all just that morning. It's a short read but so intriguing that you can't stop, no matter how absurd the story gets. It is a story full of twists as well since Solonius keeps telling slightly different versions of events throughout the book to different characters and even the reader. Pick this up if you want something quick with the twists and turns of a good thriller.

4-15-11 Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison - Fiction

4 - I picked this back up because I had a couple days until my next library visit and I was out of new books. It still is a very satisfying read and I may throw in the next book in the series somewhere to keep this going. since Harrison's new Hollows book is coming out soon. I may as well brush up. If you haven't read this book's review yet, search it on my blog. I think there's 2 or 3 reviews of it already. It's a well read favorite of mine.

4-11-11 Awakened by P.C. and Kristin Cast - Fiction

4 - I thought when I started this book that it would be the last in the House of Night series. Sometimes it's so good to be wrong. The Casts keep adding layers to the story that keep the reader involved and keep the series fresh. Zoey is learning the responsibility that comes with her being so gifted by the goddess and Neferet is becoming more of whatever she is becoming. Each book in this series makes me so eager for the next and this is no exception.

4-8-11 Thursday Next First Among Sequals by Jasper Fforde - Fiction

4 - It's been a while since I've read a Thursday Next book but it wasn't hard to get right back into the series and all its quirkiness. Years have passed and Friday is now 16 and has two sisters, Tuesday and Jenny. Landon and Thursday are living happily while Landon tries to write another novel and Thursday sneaks behind his back and does Jurisfiction and Literary Special Ops work. Thursday is such a great character and that's what makes these books so fun, but picture a Thursday Next book with more than one Thursday. And multiple Mrs. Danvers. And a guest appearance by Temperance Brennan. And the Dodo Fancier's Association. Oh yeah, a wild ride as usual.

3-31-11 On the Wrong Track by Steve Hockensmith - Fiction

4 - I'm really enjoying the Holmes on the Range series. The second book takes place on a train that's speeding to California. Big Red and Old Red, unable to find detective work with any agency, have joined the Southern Pacific Rail's security detail. After discovering a murder, meeting a suffragette, and dealing with a very pissed off snake, Big Red and Old Red do their detecting and keep the reader enthralled and amused as they deduce like Sherlock Holmes. Seriously, try one of these books!
